Samsung has released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for users of unlocked edition of Galaxy Note 4 in Hungary. Since Google has rolled out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Nexus devices, rumors are rife that the Galaxy Note 5 users may receive Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update before the end of this year.

Citing information from NapiDroid, Phone Arena reported that the Galaxy Note 4 handset with model number SM-N910F is now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Few weeks ago, an unofficial Samsung document containing information on Android 6.0 roll out for Galaxy smartphones and tablets had surfaced.

It had stated that Galaxy Note 4 would be receiving Android 6.0 in February 2016 and the update was expected to arrive first for Galaxy Note 5 users in this month. The South Korean has all of a sudden released the update for Note 4 user without any prior intimation.

As far as other Samsung Galaxy devices are concerned, the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ are all scheduled to get updated to Android M in January 2016. The update will be available for Galaxy Note Edge users in February 2016. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is slated to receive Android 6.0 in April 2016.

As of this writing, only unlocked units of Note 4 (SM-N910F) are receiving the Android 6.0 update. The carrier variants of Note 4 are going to receive the update later. The Android 6.0 update includes new feature like Doze for enhancing battery life. It also brings along an upgraded Air Command menu and a new feature of adding notes by scribbling on the display with S-Pen stylus.
