Angelina Jolie up for 2nd Oscar, Brad Pitt first Oscar
Changeling actress Angelina Jolie feels privileged for being nominated for the Best Leading Actress Oscar award.
Working with Clint Eastwood was a reward in itself that will last me a lifetime, she says of the director of the film. It has been an exceptional year for acting, and I am honored to be in the company of these talented actors whose performances all deserve this recognition.
Jolie is up against Kate Winslet (The Reader), Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Meryl Streep (Doubt), and Melissa Leo (Frozen River).
She won an Oscar in 199 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Girl, Interrupted.
The Academy Awards will air on ABC, Sunday, February 22 and will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
Her partner, Brad Pitt, is also up for Best Leading Actor for his role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
This is a great honor for the movie, and I'm especially happy for David Fincher, for without him there would be no Ben Button, he said in a statement.
The film, about a man who ages backwards, earned nods for best picture, best director (David Fincher), best actor (Brad Pitt), best supporting actress (Taraji P. Henson) and best adapted screenplay, as well as several other picks totaling 13 nominations.
Pitt was last nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Twelve Monkeys in 1995, but it was Kevin Spacey's work in the Usual Suspects that took home the prize.
