Angelina Jolie's dad Jon Voight was spotted at a supermarket amid the coronavirus outbreak.
A few days back, Jolie was seen shopping with her daughter amid the coronavirus outbreak. She was seen laughing with her daughter Vivienne, 11, in Los Angeles on March 15.
The following day, Jolie’s father was also spotted grocery shopping. He filled his basket with paper towels when he shopped at Gelson’s in Sherman Oaks, California on Sunday. Voight was in good spirits, but he should have stayed home. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, older adults like Voight are at higher risk of getting sick from COVID-19.
Due to the recommended social distancing, Voight might reduce his visits to Jolie’s children. Jolie and her dad didn’t have the best daughter and father relationship. They have been estranged for years and only reconciled in 2011.
In August 2017, Jolie was seen with Voight laughing and chatting with Vivienne, as they walked to her Color Me Mine class in the Sherman Oaks neighborhood. The “Maleficent” star told Vanity Fair that her dad has been supportive of her following her split from Brad Pitt.
“He's been very good at understanding they needed their grandfather at this time,” Jolie said.
In a podcast, Jolie also confessed that she was closer to her mom than her dad. She also explained why she didn’t use her father’s last name, Voight.
“I didn’t feel that close to my father. I felt more of my mother's daughter when I was a child. So that was one part of it,” Jolie said.
“The second part of it was I did want to have my own identity and didn’t want to walk into a room as Jon’s daughter. I wanted to see if I could get the job on my own, and not be hired for a name.”
In 2017, Voight was asked if he was aware that his daughter, Jolie, was one of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment victims. The “Midnight Cowboy” star said that he wasn’t aware of it, but Jolie has already spoken about the matter and that’s it.
“I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did,” Jolie said of the Miramax co-founder. “His behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable.”
