Angelina Jolie's Heartfelt Email To Brad Pitt Resurfaces On TikTok: 'I Will Treasure My Memories'
A video of Angelina Jolie's emotional email to Brad Pitt has resurfaced on TikTok amid their continuing divorce battle.
While the January 2021 video has not been deleted from social media, ET confirmed through court documents that the said email was Jolie's.
Jolie started her email by telling Pitt that she wanted to put her thoughts into writing so as "not to get emotional," according to reports. She then detailed her decision to sell Chateau Miraval Winery, which the couple acquired during the course of their marriage.
The "Maleficent" actress described the property as "a place that held the promise of what could be" and where she thought she would grow old. "I will treasure my memories of what was a decade ago," she said.
Despite the nostalgia, Jolie said the winery was "also a place that marks the beginning of the end of our family" and "a business that is centered around alcohol." She also told Pitt she had hoped that the property would somehow hold them together and give them "light and peace," but she later realized that was not the case.
"I see now how you have really wanted me out and will most likely be pleased to receive this email," she wrote in the alleged email. She also associated the winery with "lots of inconsiderate behavior," including money spent on ways she would not have approved and decisions made that she was not consulted on over the past few years.
Jolie added that she was "hurt by decisions that have been made that show no interest in sharing the business or changing it fundamentally into something that would be healthier for children." She also said she was "shaken" by the recent imagery released to sell alcohol, adding that it was something she would never want the children to see. "It reminded me of painful times," she wrote.
Jolie further proposed "two ways forward," including the outright sale of the winery or a complete buyout of her share in the property and business by Pitt and other associates.
"Either way, I believe we need to move forward in order to heal and focus on where our family comes together, and where we have positive associations. And to do so quickly," she maintained.
The letter also included details about the 2016 plane incident involving their family, where Pitt allegedly lunged at and choked one of their children, ET Canada reported. It was reportedly after this incident that Jolie decided to file for divorce from Pitt.
"I cannot begin to express how upsetting it is for me to have to reach this point," she told Pitt in the letter. Further talking about the winery, Jolie added, "I wish you all the best with the business, and sincerely hope that the children feel differently about Miraval when they are older, and visit you there. But Miraval for me died September 2016, and everything I have seen in the years since has sadly confirmed that."
Months after Jolie wrote the email, she sold her stakes in the winery to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler, prompting Pitt to file a lawsuit against her. He also accused Jolie of damaging the reputation of their company in the lawsuit. In response to the lawsuit, Jolie filed court documents that shed light on abuse allegations against the "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood" actor, all of which Pitt has denied.
