Angry Birds, the megahit of the smartphone gaming world, has joined forces today with Social Network king Facebook in a collaboration which will likely make both companies even richer than they already are. Rovio, the Finish company that makes Angry Birds, announced that they would release their trademark title on Facebook back in January, and true to their word the repetitive game of slingshots, birds and pigs is now available to all 800 million Facebook users right here.

The Facebook version of the game features the same style of gameplay in which the user has a specific number of chances to launch different types of birds at a group of fortified pigs. However, Angry Birds will take advantage of Facebook's social network in several ways, allowing users to share their scores with their friends, and also send each other mystery gifts, which are one of four power-ups. Power-ups can be earned through gameplay, purchased, or gifted to friends. There are currently four power-ups available for Angry Birds on Facebook:

1-Sling Scope: laser targeting for perfect precision. 2- King Sling: fling the birds with style and speed. 3-Super Seeds: super-size your bird. 4-Birdquake: an earthquake brings the pigs' defenses to the ground.

According to Peter Vesterbacka, Chief Marketing Officer of Rovio, the company is currently worth $1 billion, and is planning to go public this year, reported Mashable.com. Angry Birds has been downloaded 700 million times since its initial release into Apple's app market in December of 2009, and now that it is available on Facebook it will likely hit one billion users relatively soon.

The drastic growth of Rovio represents the rapids changes sweeping the video game market, and the globe, as the tech bubble continues to boom. Smartphone and social technology is one of the strongest forces currently driving economic growth.

The launch is just the beginning for Angry Birds on Facebook, said Petri Jarvilehto, senior vice president of game publishing at Rovio. We have great new features and gameplay lined up for the fans in the upcoming weeks. Angry Birds on Facebook will offer a unique experience for our fans and we're really excited to explore it.
