‘Animal Kingdom’ Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 9 Synopsis Released; Watch ‘Custody’ Promo
Although family is everything when it comes to the Cody brood, it looks like the tight knit unit is slowly beginning to unravel on “Animal Kingdom” Season 2. Starting with the botched job in the beginning the season, the family has slowly begun to grow suspicious of one another and on episode 9, “Custody,” Baz could cross a line that may change things forever.
“When Baz (Scott Speedman) bows out of the yacht heist, Craig (Ben Robson) and Deran (Jake Weary) consider their options,” the synopsis for “Animal Kingdom” Season 2, episode 9 teases. In the promo, Baz can be seen telling someone to leave the girl at home because things are too risky.

Although it is unclear who he is talking to, it’s a good chance that he is issuing that order to Craig. In the previous episode, Craig told Nicky (Molly Gordon) that she could help with the heist which made the teen excited that she would finally be apart of the team.
However, from the looks of the “Custody” promo, Nicky is not going to be as involved as she thinks she is. In the video, she can be seen looking disappointed while standing in Smurf’s (Ellen Barkin) backyard as a guy who looks like Craig walks away from her.
Later in the promo for the TNT series, Craig is seen looking worried as he complains to Deran that the heist cannot fall apart because of Baz. Will they find someone else to take Baz’s place?
Even though it is unclear whether Pope (Shawn Hatosy) plans to join his younger brothers in their heist, he seems to already have his hands full with Amy (Jennifer Landon). In the promo, Amy tells Pope that he is a good person but he tells her he isn’t.
The Cody brothers are behind the church heist which landed Amy in hot water with the cops. Ever since the heist, Pope has been struggling with guilt because he feels bad for putting Amy in a difficult position. Will his guilt have a negative effect on his family?
“Meanwhile, Baz recruits J (Finn Cole) for a more personal job,” the synopsis for the TNT series says. In the promo, Lucy (Carolina Guerra) can be seen asking Baz what he’s ripping off.
“Smurf,” he replies.
In the previous episode, Baz revealed that he thinks that Smurf has been skimming money off of their jobs for years and he believes she killed Catherine (Daniella Alonso). He also learned that she has a safe hidden in a storage unit. In the promo, Baz can be seen breaking into Smurf’s safe which is filled with cash.
Will forcing J to help him change the teen’s relationship with his grandmother? Since his uncles have been giving Smurf the cold shoulder after messing up a job, J has grown close with the matriarch.
