Antonio Brown’s Contract Keeps WR With Bucs, Tom Brady For Super Bowl Defense
One of Tom Brady’s favorite targets will be back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ title defense. Antonio Brown has re-signed with the Super Bowl champions, inking a one-year deal.
The contract guarantees Brown a minimum $3.1 million salary for the 2021 season, according to NFL Network. Brown will be paid a $2 million signing bonus and can make up to $6.25 million.
A midseason addition for Tampa Bay in 2020, Brown made fewer than $2 million. The veteran wide receiver caught 45 passes, for 483 yards and four touchdowns in eight games with Tampa Bay.
Legal issues have limited Brown to just nine regular-season games over the last two NFL seasons. Brady has been Brown’s quarterback for each of those contests, and the two players have seemingly grown very close in a short period of time. Brown even lived at Brady's home during Brown's short stint with the New England Patriots.
Brown has arguably been the NFL’s most productive receiver over the past decade. The 32-year-old is a four-time First-Team All-Pro selection and he made seven Pro Bowls from 2011-2018. Brown has recorded seven seasons with more than 1,100 yards.
Brady won his fifth Super Bowl MVP award in his first year with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has done its best to keep the core of the team that defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV intact.
Brown and Rob Gronkowski both re-signed with the Bucs in free agency. Tampa Bay didn’t allow Chris Godwin to become a free agent, using the franchise tag on the receiver. Running back Leonard Fournette is also returning to the Bucs.
Tampa Bay gave Brady a contract extension that should keep him with the Bucs for at least two more years.
The Bucs are the early NFC favorites for the 2021 season, and their Super Bowl odds have only gotten better throughout the offseasons.
