Apple Could Bring Magic Keyboard To More iPad Models
KEY POINTS
- A leaker claims that the Magic Keyboard will soon work with other iPad models
- This leaker has 90.5% accuracy in terms of leaked details
- The Magic Keyboard will enhance the overall iPad user experience
Apple's latest Magic Keyboard accessory gives the iPad Pro added benefits that can allow it to function like a laptop. This accessory, however, only works with the 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro, which means only those who have these devices will be able to enjoy its features.
A tweet from noted tipster @L0vetodream, however, indicates that Apple could be working on bringing the Magic Keyboard to other iPad models, not just the iPad Pro. The leaker simply tweeted, “in my dream Magic keyboard not only for the iPad Pro.”
@L0vetodream is known for leaking information it gets in a “dream.” It didn't reveal its sources for this recent claim, but if its track record is anything to go by, the claim might likely be accurate. According to AppleTrack, a website that keeps track of leaks made about Cupertino's products, @L0vetodream is “90.5% accurate.” That means it makes accurate predictions more than nine times per 10 claims.
Cult of Mac noted that the iPad Air might be one of those models that could get support for the Magic Keyboard. This is because the latest iPad Air version has a smart connector, which is what the Magic Keyboard uses to connect with the iPad Pro. It's also possible that the next iPad Air, slated to release later this year, could offer support for the accessory.
Why does this matter?
Apple's latest Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro accessory has been praised for its features, particularly the keyboard which uses the scissor mechanism. The scissor mechanism under the keys allows it to offer longer travel and added reliability as compared to the butterfly keyboard, which was deemed problematic. Users won't have to worry about keys failing anytime soon.
It was also praised for its hinge design which allows iPad Pros to “float” above the keyboard, making it look like a desktop monitor. This hinge allows users to adjust the iPad Pro for a more comfortable viewing angle.
The Magic Keyboard's compatibility with the 2018 iPad Pro also allowed users to “upgrade” their user experience without having to spend top dollar for a new 2020 iPad Pro. Should the Magic Keyboard become compatible with other iPad models, more consumers will be able to enjoy the accessory's features as well.
