Apple Debuts New ‘Carpool Karaoke Series’ Trailer Ahead Of Next Week’s Premiere
Apple has outed another trailer for its upcoming original show “Carpool Karaoke: The Series,” which is set to premiere next week. As expected, the new promotional material shows the different teams of celebrities who took on the challenge of singing different songs while driving around and tackling different tasks along the way.
Set to the song “On the Road Again,” the trailer that debuted on Apple’s official YouTube channel shows the celebrity pairings jamming inside the car. Spotted in the teaser clip are heavy metal band Metallica, sisters Miley and Noah Cyrus, “Game of Thrones” stars Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, and many others.
The show is inspired by the famous Carpool Karaoke segment from James Corden’s “Late Late Show,” as pointed out by MacRumors. Corden is also involved in this Apple Music exclusive project, and he is even seen in the trailer. The talk show host is apparently producing the series alongside Ben Winston and Eric Kankowski.

“Carpool Karaoke: The Series“ is scheduled to premiere on Aug. 8. The Cupertino giant is releasing one episode per week of the 16 half-hour episodes show. This approach to releasing episode by episode of its show is also what Apple is doing with its other original series, “Planet of the Apps.” Speaking of “Planet of the Apps,” Apple is said to be expecting better reception for the “Carpool Karaoke” series than the programming show.
It’s not surprising if “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” succeeds in terms of viewership, for Apple has gathered big names to appear in the musical series. Aside from the above-mentioned names, the show also features Will Smith, the rest of the Cyrus family, Shakira, Trevor Noah, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Taraji P. Henson, LeBron James and more.
“Carpool Karaoke: The Series” is exclusively debuting on Apple Music in more than 100 countries. The reason behind the launch of TV shows on the streaming service is for Apple to distinguish what its service can offer compared to rivals Spotify and Pandora, according to Apple Insider. The iPhone 8 maker also appears to be serious in creating more high-budget shows, given the recent hiring of executives from Sony Pictures Television.

As previously reported, Apple is expected to launch around 10 original shows and documentaries this year. This already includes “Carpool Karaoke: The Series,” “Planet of the Apps” and documentaries about hip hop label Cash Money Records and record producer Clive Davis.
Meanwhile, Apple is also preparing for the launch of its new products this fall and later this year. Among them is the highly anticipated iPhone 8, which is said to be a redesigned iOS smartphone to commemorate the line’s 10th anniversary. Another device that Apple is currently working on is its very own smart speaker, called HomePod.
Over the weekend, Apple made HomePod’s firmware briefly available to developers. This led to the discovery of some of the Amazon Echo rival‘s specs and features. There’s now information that the device will come with a screen that displays the control buttons and a multicolor LED waveform when users are interacting with Siri.
