Apple Ditching iPhone 12 Midnight Green Color Option For Dark Blue Version
KEY POINTS
- Apple is expected to release the new iPhone 12 series soon
- The iPhone 12 Pro models will come in a new dark blue color, reports say
- This new color will replace midnight green, which was introduced in the iPhone 11 Pro models
Apple will be releasing a new color option for the upcoming iPhone 12 series, multiple reports said.
Apple is expected to release the new iPhone 12 series, which includes four different handsets featuring the best the company has to offer in a smartphone, in the coming weeks. The new lineup will run on a new chip, offer improved camera capabilities and offer support for 5G connectivity.
A new report confirms several rumors about the new lineup. Apple will be offering the Pro devices in a new dark blue color option, replacing the midnight green color option that the company introduced with the iPhone 11 Pro models, Bloomberg reported.
This means fans will be able to get the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-iPhone 12 Pro Max in a new color option that hasn't been seen in any iPhone model before.
The four handsets – which measure 5.4, 6.1, and 6.7 inches depending on the model – will all feature flat edges similar to that of the iPad Pro, according to the report. The two non-Pro models will have aluminum edges like that of the current flagships, while the Pro models will have stainless steel edges.
Bloomberg isn't the first to report about the new color option. It was previously leaked by XDA Developers' Max Weinbach earlier this year.
Weinbach spoke to YouTuber EverythingApplePro in January and said Apple will offer a new dark blue color option for the iPhone 12 Pro models. He added that the new color will replace midnight green, which has become popular among fans.
Taiwanese publication DigiTimes also revealed the same detail in a more recent report, adding a few more interesting details that fans will appreciate. Per Digitimes Research:
“In addition to adding a dark blue model, for the first time, into the iPhone family products, Apple also brings a number of specification upgrades to new iPhones, including camera modules, displays and communications modules. ”
Apple hasn't confirmed or denied the leaks at the moment. This means Bloomberg, Weinbach and Digitimes' claims could very well be true.
That said, fans better take the reports with a grain of salt and wait for the official reveal soon.
