Apple faces lawsuit over an 'explosive' iPod touch
Apple has been sued by a mother in Cincinnati after her son's 16GB iPod exploded in his pocket, according to Apple Insider.
In the 14-page suit filed on Wednesday, Lynette Antrobus of Cincinnati said her son’s iPod exploded his pocket, set his pants on fire and melted through to his leg, causing second degree burns. She also claims the incident has left her son with mental distress.
Apple didn't take enough precautions to test the iPod for this kind of risk, she argues, and didn't adequately warn buyers that there might be a risk.
Antrobus also accused 10 anonymous workers in Apple's manufacturing department for negligent work in producing the iPod touch.
She is seeking at least $75,000 ahead of the trial and said she doesn't want class action status to represent all iPod touch owners.
