Apple To Finance Martin Scorsese's 'Killers Of The Flower Moon'

Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie “Killers Of The Flower Moon” has finally found a financer. The iconic filmmaker was in search of a financer for his latest movie and was in talks with two of the biggest names in the streaming service industry – Apple and Netflix.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, tech giant Apple is set to finance Scorsese’s project. The deal is in the final round of talks and once finalized, the film will be called an Apple original movie while Paramount Pictures will be distributing the film globally.

The news comes a month after various reports claimed that the rising budget of the movie forced Paramount to opt-out of the project. The studio told “The Irishman” helmer to find a new financer and that’s when Scorsese began talking to Apple and Netflix.

The reports also claimed that the production budget of the upcoming movie is said to be more than $200 million.

The movie, based on the novel “Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and The Birth Of FBI” is written by David Grann. The story revolves around the brutal murders of the Osage tribes in the U.S. that led to an FBI investigation.

Recently, Scorsese revealed that the tone for his upcoming film has been set and he thinks it will be the first “Western” movie he will be working on in his illustrious career. The movie is set in the year 1921 and will be focusing on the lives of the Osage, an Indian tribe.

“We think it is a Western. There are certainly cowboys, but they have cars and also horses. The film is mainly about the Osage, an Indian tribe that was given horrible territory, which they loved because they said to themselves that Whites would never be interested in it,” Scorsese said.

Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio will be playing the lead roles in the film. Both actors recently gave fans a chance to make a cameo in the “Killers Of The Flower Moon.”

They have decided to help a campaign called “All In Challenge” and urged fans to donate as much as they could to help people who have been badly affected by the pandemic. A lucky winner will be chosen from the list of people who have donated to the initiative.

“Killers Of The Flower Moon” will hit theaters in 2021.
