It’s been discovered recently that Apple has registered several new MacBook and iPad models in Eurasia. The discovery of the registration indicates that the new devices might be released soon.

The new MacBooks and iPads were registered with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) this week. The filings were first discovered by the French website Consomac. Registering with the EEC is required for all devices that are intended to be sold in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Apple appears to have registered five new MacBook models and a five new iPad models.

The new MacBooks are represented by the model numbers A1931, A1932, A1988, A1989 and A1990. It’s believed that these models represent two different types of MacBooks. MacRumors says that the last three model numbers may be referring to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro (with and without the Touch Bar) and the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Meanwhile, the first two model numbers are claimed to be the refreshed versions of the 12-inch MacBook. The new 12-inch MacBook is also believed to be the low-cost MacBook that was first rumored last month.

Moving on to the iPad models, these devices are registered under the model numbers A1876, A1935, A1979, A2013 and A2014, according to Nashville Chatter. All of the new iPads are listed as running iOS 11. It’s believed that the latter two model numbers could be the variants for the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro, while the A1935 and A1979 model numbers could be variants for the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

What’s quite intriguing here is the model number A1876. There’s currently no clear indication on which iPad this model number is related to. Phone Arena speculates that this might be the fifth-generation iPad mini. Apple’s iPad mini hasn’t been given a hardware refresh since 2015, which makes it the likely candidate to get a new model this year. It also seems very unlikely for the A1876 device to be a refresh of the regular 9.7-inch iPad, since Apple already gave it a refresh in March.

Apple is already expected to release new iPad Pro models this year and both devices may arrive with Face ID facial recognition technology, according to the recently released iOS 12 beta for the iPad. The inclusion of Animoji in the beta suggests that Apple is preparing new iPad models with front-facing TrueDepth cameras. It remains to be seen if the new A1876 iPad will include this hardware feature as well.

So, when will Apple officially announce these new MacBook and iPad models? It’s possible that all of these new devices might be announced along the new iPhones in September. That is just speculation at this point and Apple could launch the new devices at a later date.
