Apple has hired Peter Hajas, the person behind Mobile Notifier, in what some observers believe is the potential beginning of an advanced notification system for the company's iOS based devices.

Mobile Notifier is a free open-source alert messaging system for jailbroken iOS devices -- including the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, foriOS 4.0 - that replaces the pop-up notifications for jailbroken iPhones with non intrusive alerts.

It is currently released under the BSD License.

The app is all over the internet. As of late May 2011, Mobile Notifier has had over 230,000 downloads.

He recently posted on his Facebook page that he is now an intern atApple. However, Peter is not allowed to say what he's doing now, or even which department he's working in.

It is highly unlikely that Hajas was involved in developing iOS 5.However, at least he will be assisting Apple to revamp its iOS notification.

Apple is expected to announce a refurbished notification system for iOS 5 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday.
