Apple Hits Us Right In The Feels With New Thanksgiving Short Film
The three-minute short is mesmerizing, delivering a powerful message that's inspired by today's realities.
Ready your handkerchiefs because Apple has once again created an incredibly emotional and heartwarming film for the holidays. The three-minute short titled "Holiday — The Surprise" is mesmerizing, delivering a powerful message that's inspired by today's realities.
The advertisement, created by TBWAMedia Arts Lab and Smuggler, takes us to a family trip to a granddad's house to celebrate the holidays. The story begins with the family excited for the journey, arriving at grandpa's house where the kids are all over the place, somewhat a real-life experience to people during Thanksgiving.
To keep them at bay, and to stop the two girls from pestering their grandpa, their parents tell them to "watch something" on their iPad. Bored, the girls decided to make a surprise video for him, using their creativity, they capitalized on creating an emotional tribute for the whole family.
It's open to many interpretations. Still, the main point of the film is to showcase that family will always be there no matter the circumstances. It also shows the power of technology in bridging the gap between the young and the old.
To add more to the story, the creators decided to use the theme song from Pixar's "Up." The melody perfectly complements the short film, giving it a familiar tune inevitably invokes tears and nostalgia for viewers.
Heartstrings were certainly pulled, there is no doubt about that. Apple is no stranger to making high-quality, head-turning commercials and "Holiday — The Surprise" makes no exception.
The Thanksgiving special also reminds us about the importance of family and keeping the heritage alive for future generations. The Cupertino based tech giant has undoubtedly delivered one of its most moving ads, if you haven't seen it, you must.
It's short, compelling, and it's Apple, if you are not a fan of their products, I'm sure that you'll be a fan of their ads. Guilty as charged.
