KEY POINTS

  • Apple is working on a new A14 Bionic chip for the iPhone 12 series
  • A leaker uploaded images of the new chip's RAM component
  • Fans better wait for Apple to make official announcements about the devices

Apple has been working on a new flagship iPhone lineup believed to be called the iPhone 12 series. These handsets are expected to feature the best that the company has to offer via its phones, which includes new innards and more powerful features.

One of the most anticipated new innards is the A14 Bionic chip, which is said to be definitely more powerful than the A13 Bionic chip powering the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and the affordable 2020 iPhone SE. This chip is able to give the flagship handsets the ability to do a lot of things, including taking breathtaking photos in the middle of the night without a light source.

Not much is known about the new A14 Bionic chip at the moment. A new leak, however, seems to give a glimpse at one of the important components that will work alongside the processor to power the iPhone 12 series devices.

A Twitter tipster who goes by the name Mr-white recently uploaded three images of the said component, which the leaker simply called “A14 RAM.” Basically, this component will be placed on top of the SoC and will work with the processor.

The tweet doesn't reveal anything more about the RAM, such as its size or allocation. A look at the images shows the code, “D9NXB,” but this code doesn't give away anything. Using the code as a keyword for internet searches doesn't reveal anything related to the device or the component either.

While the leak doesn't really provide important information, previous reports indicate that the A14 chip is 400MHz faster than the A13 Bionic inside the iPhone 11 lineup. The processor can be expected to give the iPhone 12 series improved performance compared to their predecessors, including gaming.

That said, fans should take the leak with a grain of salt. It doesn't reveal anything useful to consumers at this point, which means fans can simply ignore it and wait for Apple to announce something in the future. The leak only shows that the company is working on a new chip – if it is accurate.
