Apple iPhone 12 Pro: Everything We Know So Far
KEY POINTS
- Apple is expected to release a new flagship iPhone lineup this year believed to be called the iPhone 12 series
- Each model will have better features than the current flagships
- Leaked dummy models reveal that the iPhone 12 series will have a design similar to the iPhone 4 and iPad Pro
Cupertino tech giant Apple is expected to release a new flagship lineup later this year. The new lineup, believed to be called the iPhone 12 series, is said to offer the best features that are found in the current flagships plus new features that will make for the best iPhone experience yet.
Here's a quick look at some of the things that fans can expect from the new iPhone 12 series once they are released this year.
More power
The iPhone 12 series is expected to feature the A14 Bionic chip. Recent reports indicate that Apple has ordered more chips from Taiwan Manufacturing Semiconductor Company, which will produce the chips using the new 5nm process. This means the new chips will be more powerful than the current silicon powering the iPhone 11 series.
If the iPhone 12, which has an A14 Bionic chip, will be equipped with 6GB of RAM, 9to5Mac claimed that it just might be as powerful as the 15-inch MacBook Pro, which is a totally different device.
Improved Cameras
Reports indicate that Apple's next flagship series will have improved camera setups compared to the current ones in the iPhone 11 models. The iPhone 11 successor is expected to have a dual-camera setup at the back, while the successors to the iPhone 11 Pro models will feature a triple-camera setup plus a Time-of-Flight sensor like the one on the current iPad Pro.
The low-end 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max will likely feature wide and ultra-wide angle sensors. The higher-end 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max, on the other hand, will both feature wide, ultra-wide and telephoto lenses alongside a LiDAR scanner that will give the handsets added capabilities.
A different design
Leaked dummy models reveal that the iPhone 12 series will have a design similar to the iPhone 4 and iPad Pro: they will have flat edges. A recent report, however, claims that the iPhone 12 series will have curved glass, unlike the flat ones used on the iPhone 4.
Display details
Reports reveal that the iPhone 12 series models will each use an OLED display panel. They will have smaller notches. They might also feature ProMotion displays with 120Hz refresh rates.
