Apple iPod Touch 2019: New Trademark Hints At Gaming Device Revamp
There have been talks that the iPod Touch is supposedly making a comeback this 2019. It’s been many years since the last iPod release and the product line is slowly getting phased out. Here’s what we know about the Apple iPod Touch 2019 comeback.
According to a Macrumors report, Apple has recently filed a copyright for the term "iPod Touch" that would also cover: "Hand-held units for playing electronic games; Handheld game consoles." Since the iPod Touch was the only marketed Apple gaming device, we might be able to see its return this 2019.
Potentially, Apple might be aiming to try a line of iOS gaming phones soon with this announcement. However, no other information about the release date or designs has surfaced about this possible new phone.
So far, the iPod Touch is the last of the iPod series that’s still actively being sold in 2019. The series had its phone generation released in 2007, and its last version was in 2015.
It’s been four years since Apple released an iPod Touch to the masses. So far, many improvements and upgrades have been made to gaming devices, and Apple would definitely need something new or spectacular to impress its customers. However, the last iPod Touch still received a hardware update in 2017 to match the current storage standards for smartphones.
Apple has yet to announce any new phones to be released this year. In CES 2019, Apple only announced their moves to provide more services rather than new devices. This could be one of the first signs of a new Apple device this year.
In other news, speculations about the iPhone XI and its potential features have been circulating. So far, the new and upcoming IPhone is believed to come with a three-lens camera and in a circled rectangle shape and may have a USB-C port instead of the usual Lightning port. Potentially, these features could be seen in the possible iPod Touch too. The three-lens camera would definitely help when it comes to playing games with augmented reality features.
For now, we’ll have to wait for Apple to announce more about their new devices following this patent.
