Apple MacBook 2020 Specs, Features: What To Expect
A new report reveals the possible release window for Apple’s upcoming MacBook models, as well as one of the key specs users will likely appreciate.
In a new research note seen by MacRumors, noted TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has specified that Apple can be expected to release refreshed MacBook models during the second quarter of 2020. These MacBook models, which likely ranges from the standard MacBook to the powerful MacBook Pro, are also going to feature an entirely new keyboard.
This keyboard, as Kuo previously said, will have a mechanism based on scissor switches and will be made of glass fiber. The new mechanism is expected to provide users with greater key travel, and can also be expected to last longer than the butterfly keyboard which tends to malfunction the moment dust, dirt and debris make their way under the keycaps.
What’s more, the by using glass fiber on the keys, the keyboard will be more durable than earlier keyboards, and can be expected to last longer than other Apple keyboards. These features will allow the upcoming keyboard to address issues most consumers complain about, BGR noted.
Kuo said the new keyboard will be a bit thicker compared to the butterfly keyboard, but the difference won’t be noticed by most users. Regardless of added thickness, the analyst said he expects the new keyboard to offer an improved “typing experience” thanks to its new features.
The noted analyst said the upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro will be the first model to use the new keyboard. This new MacBook Pro model, which will replace the existing 15-inch model, is expected to be announced or released possibly this month or until later this year.
All MacBook models that are slated to come in 2020, Kuo said, will feature the new keyboard. Here’s what MacRumors said about Kuo’s prediction:
“Kuo now predicts that Apple's refreshed MacBook models will arrive in the second quarter of 2020, suggesting they will feature the much-anticipated scissor mechanism keyboards that the company is adopting wholesale.”
Apple hasn’t said anything about the new keyboard or the rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro yet. Stay tuned for more details as they come.
