Apple Offering Free AirPods Pro Tips Replacement Via AppleCare+
KEY POINTS
- Free AirPods Pro replacement tips for AppleCare+ owners
- Onsite repairs for regular Apple customers
- Only in select cities in the U.S. for onsite repairs
Apple is giving free AirPods Pro replacement tips to customers who have purchased AppleCare+, which protects Apple products against out-of-warranty damages and repairs. It is a $29 product and often includes freebies like free tips.
Apple has not made any official announcement regarding the tip replacement freebie for AppleCare+ owners. However, many MacRumors forum users have confirmed getting it.
“I'm not sure if it's an AppleCare+ thing or not but I set up the replacement online and there was no fee. I was under the impression that there will be a cost even with AppleCare+,” a MacRumors member named Boshii wrote.
AirPods Pro+ owners, who have opted for AppleCare+, can order replacement tips by heading to the Apple support website, selecting the AirPods Pro, checking the option to replace an ear tip, checking to replace the AirPods Pro ear tips and then order the replacement.
Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro ear tips are available for $3.95 for owners without AppleCare+.
In other Apple news, the company has started offering the option of onsite repair for customers in select cities. This service will be convenient for people who cannot come to store for any service-related issues.
According to a MacRumors report, the Apple Authorized Service Provider Go Tec Services offer onsite repair option to consumers. On Apple’s Support website, there is an option for scheduling a repair. “Look for an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Genius Bar. In select locations, onsite service may be available.”
The locations where onsite repair services from Go Tech are available are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Dallas and Houston.
Apple is known to provide onsite repairs for its enterprise user base. This is the first-of-its-kind from Apple for its regular consumers. However, it should be worth noting that Go Tech Services is authorized by Apple and not Apple employees directly coming for any repairs.
It remains unclear the extent of issues that onsite repairs can handle at the moment.
