Apple Product Releases 2019: What To Expect In First Half
It’s a new year, and that means a new release cycle for Apple products. For Apple fans who always want to be in the know, there’s a big chance that the Cupertino giant may release a new tablet and a new workstation in the first half of 2019.
Apple released an updated 9.7-inch iPad device in March 2018. Considering that Apple likes to make an annual refresh of its tablets and smartphones, it’s possible that a new iOS tablet could be debuting this coming March.
Apple has already adopted a new design language for its iPad Pro offerings. Therefore, it won’t be surprising if the 2019 edition of the 9.7-inch iPad launches with an edge-to-edge look, support for the second-generation Apple Pencil and the advanced Face ID facial recognition technology, as pointed out by AppleInsider.
Another product that’s likely launching in the first half is the revamped Mac Pro. Apple hasn’t updated this lineup for some time now, so a change is long overdue. Many are expecting the new Mac Pro to ship early this year, but a late-2019 release could also happen.
It should be noted that Apple admitted back in 2017 that it’s in the process of “completely rethinking the Mac Pro.” At the time, the Cupertino giant even teased that it’s considering a new modular design, suggesting that the new device could do away with the existing cylindrical form.
It’s not clear what’s taking Apple so long to launch the new Mac Pro, but the long development time could mean a more powerful and very different looking device overall. Nevertheless, there’s still no information on its possible specs and features.
Finally, the last device that’s possibly launching in the first half is the long awaited refresh of the iPad mini. The iPad mini 4 was released in September 2015, so it’s been more than three years since the lineup was updated.
Rumors are rife that an iPad mini 5 could be launching soon because an alleged case for the device was leaked last month. According to MacRumors, the new iPad mini tablet could come with iPad Pro-like design elements, four speakers, a Smart Connector, Apple Pencil support and more. The device is still expected to be more affordable due to the inclusion of a low-cost display.
