Is Apple Really Releasing A 16-Inch MacBook Pro?
Rumors going around the internet have claimed that Apple is working on a 16-inch MacBook Pro model.
The talk about this interesting device rose after analysts predicted that the Cupertino tech giant will indeed be releasing a new model that will replace the 15-inch MacBook Pro. That said, it's not here yet. Before it ever arrives, here's a compilation of what the rumors say about it.
Rumor 1: A new MacBook Pro model is coming
Rumors of a new MacBook Pro model started to surface months ago, with noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and supply chain insider DigiTimes both reporting that Apple is working on a 16-inch model.
Rumor 2: This new model will feature a new Keyboard
Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple is working on a new keyboardto do away with all the problems the infamous butterfly keyboard brought to users. The new keyboard, he said, will feature a scissor mechanism that is more resistant to damages caused by dirt and debris, and will be very durable and long lasting because it's made of glass fiber.
The analyst also noted that the new keyboard, which offers longer travel compared to the butterfly keyboard, is designed to improve the MacBook typing experience. The new keyboard, which will be the standard for all MacBooks for release in 2020, will debut on the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
Rumor 3: It will replace the 15-inch MacBook Pro
Analysts believe that the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which they expect to be released during the fourth quarter of 2019, will replace the 15-inch MacBook Pro which is still being sold at the moment.
The “15.4 [inch] MacBook [Pro] will...end production...Nov’19,” IHS Markit’s Jeff Lin previously said about the matter . “I am pretty sure that MacBook 15.4” will be EOL [End-of-Life].”
Rumor 4: It's pretty expensive
The new 16-inch MacBook Pro, with its new features, is expected to cost about $3,000 per unit. This price range, previous reports indicated, puts the new device in the same position as that of the higher-end iMac and iMac Pro devices, and is designed to be a powerhouse device for users who are always on the go.
Rumor 5: It's under production now
A report from the supply chain claimed that Quanta, one of Apple's partners, is already assembling the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The new device will feature either an Intel Coffee Lake or Ice Lake processor, and has a 16-inch screen placed in a casing the same size as that of the supposedly outgoing 15-inch MacBook Pro.
