Since last month, the tech industry is holding its breath for the potentially devastating impact of the COVID-19 that originated in Wuhan, China. Several factories and facilities remain closed while some facilities, which have resumed their normal operations, experienced low employee turnout. Amid these issues, a new report claims that Apple is preparing to launch the low-cost iPhone SE 2 and the new 2020 iPad Pro as scheduled
iPhone SE 2 Launching
The latest report comes from Bloomberg, which claims that the Cupertino company is still launching the iPhone SE 2 amid issues and threats of the COVID-19. The model is still on track to unveil next month, but plans are still fluid, the site reports having learned the information from people familiar with the matter. The iPhone SE 2 is one of the most anticipated iPhones arriving this year because of its unbelievably low price.
The low-cost entry-level iPhone SE 2 is anticipated to sport a 4.7-inch display. Earlier rumors suggested it would house Apple’s A13 Bionic chip, currently on iPhone 11 and a 3 GB RAM. Meanwhile, a new report from the German site iPhone-ticker.de, reveals that Apple is preparing to hold an event by the end of next month or probably on Mar. 31.
While the site does not say that it would be the venue Apple would use to unveil the iPhone SE 2, it is highly likely happening if the company would push for the launch of the low-cost iPhone as scheduled. A few weeks earlier, Korea Telecom, one of the major carriers in South Korea, already advertised the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9 and started receiving pre-orders for the smartphone. The carrier even offered a free AirPods for those who pre-order the device.
The iPhone SE 2, according to the German site, would be available by Apr. 3 and would retail at around $399.
iPad Pro
Aside from the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9, Apple is also reportedly planning to launch the iPad Pro in the first half of this year. Earlier rumors revealed that the upcoming iPad Pro would house Apple’s A13X processor with a multi-lens camera system. Some sites claimed that it would feature a 3D time of flight sensor for enhanced augmented reality. The first quarter of this year would see the launch of the 11.-inch and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, while the iPad Pro 5G might arrive in the later part of 2020.
