Apple's TV streaming service, Apple TV+, went live on Nov. 1. Disney's competing offering, Disney+, will go live 11 days later on Nov. 12. Which of the two will be the better choice? Here's a quick look at a few reasons why both of them are good and yet one may be better than the other.

Apple and Disney have a long history together, Apple Insider noted. The Cupertino tech giant's founder, Steve Jobs, was Disney's largest shareholder when he died in 2011. He was also part of the entertainment company's board at the time. It's also worth noting that Jobs co-founded Pixar Animation Studios, which is now owned by Disney.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, on the other hand, was also part of Apple's board starting from the time after Jobs passed away, until he resigned earlier this year. He revealed that had Jobs lived, Apple and Disney might've merged into one huge company. The two didn't merge, however, resulting in them being rivals in this year's TV streaming wars.

That said, which is better than the other? Here's a quick look at some important things to note.

Subscription cost

First is the amount users have to pay per month. Apple TV+ costs $4.99 per month, or $49.99 a year. Consumers who buy a new Apple device will get Apple TV+ for free for one year, but will be charged the monthly rate thereafter.

Disney+, on the other hand, will cost $6.99 per month, or $69.99 a year, at launch. Users can get it bundled with ESPN and Hulu for $12.99 per month. Previous reportssaid Apple is planning to launch its own bundle as well.

Offerings

Both streaming services offering original titles. Apple TV+ offers originals like “The Morning Show,” “See,” “Dickinson,” “The Elephant Queen,” “For All Mankind,” “Snoopy In Space” and “Servant,” the latter of which comes from noted filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan.

Disney+'s offerings are more family-oriented compared to the shows on Apple TV+. This, of course, is expected. Disney+ won't be offering any R-rated content, which makes it a better choice for those with kids at home. Shows include “ Forky Asks a Question ” (starring Forky from “Toy Story 4”), a reimagining of “ Lady and the Tramp, ” and the interesting “T he World According to Jeff Goldblum. ”

These two factors alone will help users determine which is best for their needs. Those who want a family-friendly streaming service have Disney+ as the better option. Those who don't have young ones at home and want to save a bit of money while having a streaming service can go with Apple TV+ as the better choice.
