Apple Watch Sales Expand To Best Buy Starting August
If you wanted an Apple Watch in its first months, the few places you could purchase it boiled down to fashion boutiques in select cities or Apple’s online and retail stores. But that’s no longer the case. Starting August 7, Apple Inc. will sell its Apple Watch at Best Buy stores across the United States.
For starters, sales will be limited to Best Buy’s website and about 100 of its retail stores. An additional 200 stores will carry the Apple Watch by the start of the Christmas holiday shopping season. Not every model of the Apple Watch will be available. Best Buy will only carry 16 models of the aluminum Apple Watch and the stainless steel Apple Watch sport in both 38mm and 42mm sizes.
If you have the cash to spend over $10,000 on the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition, Best Buy won’t be the place.
Best Buy will sell nearly 50 Apple Watch accessories, such as bands, screen protectors, stands, chargers and more. Though it already has a number of Apple Watch accessories available through its online store.
Best Buy is expected to update its website in the coming days with information on the Apple Watch and which stores will carry it in August.
The Apple Watch first launched online in April in nine countries and markets, including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the UK and the U.S. Since then Apple has expanded watch sales additional markets.
Apple hasn’t officially disclosed how many watches it has sold since launch and it doesn’t intent to do so. Analyst estimates have wildly ranged from as low as 2.85 million units to as high as 5.7 million.
