KEY POINTS
- The Apple Watch is a very helpful tool when going out of the house
- Those who haven't used their Apple Watch during the pandemic might've forgotten the passcode
- Here's how to reset the passcode
The Apple Watch is a very helpful tool, especially when going out of the house to take a walk, run or jog, go places, all while staying connected.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, people everywhere have been forced to stay inside their homes for safety. Because of this, some might not have worn their Apple Watch for quite a while – and those who might not have used their Apple wearable for some time might've already forgotten their passcode.
Those who have forgotten their Apple Watch passcode can simply reset it so they can use their wearable again. Apple Insider noted that the process is quite “involved,” but it's not very complicated. Here's how to reset an Apple Watch passcode.
First things first
Before proceeding, Apple Watch users are advised to do the following:
- Make sure that the Apple Watch and paired iPhone have at least 50% battery and are charging.
- Make sure to have their Apple ID password ready. Those who forgot their Apple ID passwords are advised to reset their Apple ID password before proceeding.
Factory resetting the Apple Watch
Resetting the Apple Watch passcode requires users to factory reset the device. The International Business Times has a guide on factory resetting an Apple Watch, but here's a quick overview:
- First, users should open the Watch app on their iPhones.
- Second, users should tap on General, scroll to the bottom, then hit Reset.
- Third, users should tap on Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings, then tap on Erase all content and settings .
Users are advised to place the Apple Watch on its charger while doing this as the process will take a few minutes to finish.
Resetting the Apple Watch passcode
Users will need to pair the factory reset Apple Watch to their iPhone, then reset the passcode. Here's how it's done
- First, users should wear their Apple Watch comfortably, then bring it close to their iPhone.
- The Apple Watch and iPhone should automatically pair with each other. If it doesn't, users should open the Watch app on their iPhone, tap on the your watch tab at the top of the screen, then tap on Pair New Watch.
Once the two devices are paired, users should restore their Apple Watch from a backup, and enter a new passcode for the device when prompted.
