Apple's 6.1-Inch 2018 iPhone Leak Shows Different Color Options

Apple is expected to launch three new iPhone models next week and one of them will come with a 6.1-inch LCD display. That particular model of the 2018 iPhone lineup has been leaked in a set of photos revealing that it will be available in four colors.

The photos of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone were shared online through Slash Leaks. The iPhones seen in the images are believed to be either prototypes or dummies. The images show that the upcoming iPhone will be available in four color options: red, white, blue and rose gold. Last year’s iPhone X was only available in white and black color options. This year, Apple is planning to change things up by bringing more color options to the 6.1-inch model, which is also expected to be the most affordable out of the three.

Whether these images are the real is difficult to say for certain. However, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo did say back in July that Apple’s 2018 iPhones will arrive in new colors. Kuo claimed that the 6.1-inch LCD model might arrive in gray, white, blue, red and orange. He also said at the time that the 6.5-inch OLED model, now rumored to be called the iPhone XS Max, will be offered in black, white and gold.

The newly leaked images of the 6.1-inch 2018 iPhone also show that the handset will arrive with a glass back and a metal frame, which is a design similar to that of the iPhone X. What’s also worth pointing out is that the frame on these devices appear to have the same color as the glass back, according to Phone Arena. The space gray iPhone X had a matching metal frame, while the white model had a silver metal frame.

The images also appear to confirm that the 6.1-inch 2018 iPhone will have a single camera on its back, a single Lightning port and the 3.5mm headphone jack is nowhere to be seen. The photo of the rose gold model also shows that the upcoming 2018 iPhone will be available with dual-SIM card variants, which is likely part of Apple’s strategy to appeal to the Chinese market.

The 6.1-inch 2018 iPhone, which has now been dubbed as the iPhone 9 by some, will be the cheapest new model for this year. The popular rumor that’s circulating right now is that it may arrive with a $699 price tag, the same starting price of the iPhone 8.
