Alia Shawkat has long been rumored to be dating Brad Pitt, and she is finally revealing the real score between them.

The 31-year-old “Arrested Development” star and the “World War Z” actor first sparked romance rumors after they were spotted together multiple times last year. However, fans of Pitt and Shawkat may feel disappointed because apparently, there’s nothing going on between them.

“We’re not dating. We’re just friends. I’ve gotten press, but not like that,” Shawkat told Vulture.

In fact, she was shocked over how fast her name was tied to Pitt's. Shawkat’s friends apparently even began messaging her about the rumors. She compared the attention to being naked in school.

“I was like, ‘I don’t believe this. All my friends were like ‘What’s going on?’ and sending me photos. I just felt overwhelmed. It’s that feeling of being naked in school, like, ‘Oh my God, everyone’s looking at me,'” Shawkat said.

After meeting through filmmaker Spike Jonze, Shawkat and Pitt immediately clicked and became friends. He introduced her to his other pals and things just took off from there. However, it’s not like their relationship evolved into something romantic.

Shawkat and Pitt are friends, but it was the media coverage that really focused on how they were an unexpected match.

“To them, it’s like, ‘We don’t get it! This girl is weird! She’s so different! Why are they hanging out?' You get too close to the prom king, and all of a sudden, everyone’s like, ‘Well, who is this b---h?'” Shawkat added.

Paparazzi photos of them captured last year from Kanye West’s opera, the one-man show of Mike Birbiglia and an art exhibition were taken as a sign by fans that they were dating. The rumors were further fueled by several sources’ claims that Angelina Jolie's ex-husband and Shawkat were spending a lot of time together during this quarantine period.

An insider told Us Weekly that the celebrities have been hanging out and that they live close to each other. Shawkat would reportedly easily go to Pitt’s house when they have time to chill. The source also called what the pair had as “very organic and easy.”
