Are Jamie And Claire Being Killed In 'Outlander?' Diana Gabaldon Addresses Report
Rumors have been running rampant that Jamie and Claire aren't going to survive after book ten of the famous time-travelling series. Now, Diana Gabaldon has finally addressed the rumors and revealed whether or not she plans to axe the star-crossed lovers.
In a Facebook post, Gabaldon addressed the rumors that have been swirling that her book series, which was later adapted into the wildly popular STARZ series. In the post, Gabaldon slammed the report, which came at the same time as false reports that Facebook was shutting down fan groups.
"Is there something in the water today, or what?" Gabaldon posted. "I don't go anywhere online other than this page, Twitter, and Compuserve—this is how I survive social media—but my assistant just showed me an absolutely blithering post on some other page by someone asserting with great confidence that I'm going to kill off Jamie and Claire in Book Ten, because now that I'm a grandmother I don't want to write or do book tours anymore."
She went on to slam the report, stating that her being a grandmother wasn't going to affect her writing in any way, because her grandson lives in Colorado, and she isn't raising him. She also revealed that she is still some long ways off from finishing the 10th book, and what happens to the characters will be determined when she's getting closer to finishing things up, but she doesn't guarantee that they will either survive of die in the end.
"It'll likely be another five years before I get anywhere near the end of Book Ten (and for the record, I don't intend to kill Jamie and Claire off. If one of them happens to die on me, that's another issue, but no expectation of that happening at the moment)… Look, if you hear rumors about me or the books or anything I might be connected with—why don't you just come here and ask me to my face?."
"Outlander" is currently airing its third season on STARZ.
