Are Kristi Leskinen And Jen Hudak 'Tough' Enough To Win 'Amazing Race?'
They're women who competed in intense competitions and are used to people thinking they can't succeed, and that experience may be what propels Kristi Leskinen and Jen Hudak during Season 30 of "The Amazing Race."
In a pre-Race interview with CBS, the professional skiers revealed that they have developed some thick skin throughout their years of competition, and they think that their backgrounds will only help them as they compete on the race.
"We've been females in male-dominated sports, so I think that while we can be very girly, we also have a lot of typically male trait that will help us on the Race, since we're a two-female team," Kristi says.
"We're both tough, I mean there's just no denying that," Jen adds. "We did a sport that was extremely hard and brutal on our bodies, and not only did we do that sport, but we came back from injury and we persevered through it."
The two also admit that their respective injuries throughout their careers have also inspired their tough outlook, and made them into the strong competitors they plan to be.
"This girl has had eight knee surgeries," Kristi says. "You know, I've had several concussions. We've been on the scene when friends were seriously injured, so I feel like that toughness.... you have to keep going. And that's something that we're going to bring to the race for sure."
However, while they do believe they will be strong competitors that the other teams will have to work hard to beat, they do admit that they each do have their limitations, which could hurt them when it comes to some of the tasks they may face during the competition. However, they're sure they can still find a way to work through those as well.
"She doesn't like to dance," Jen says. "I'm not really the swimmer."
"Yeah, so I feel like we'll feed off each other and work really well together," Kristi adds.
Will Kristi and Jen beat their fellow competitors? Tune in when Season 30 of "The Amazing Race" returns Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
