Are pregnant Meghan Markle and her alleged royal rival Kate Middleton going to attend the 2019 Met Gala together? If Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has her way, the answer will be yes.

“Is there a dream guest that has never come that you wish would make their attendance,” “Today” co-anchor Jenna Bush Hager asked Wintour in a new interview about the event.

“Yes, definitely. I would love to have the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge together,” she revealed. “That would be my dream couple. They could leave their husbands at home. It’s the two of them I want.”

Unfortunately, Markle is either currently busy at home with a newborn baby or she’s about to be. She and her husband Prince Harry have opted out of taking post-birth photos on the hospital steps, which means the public won’t know when their baby’s born until the couple chooses to share the happy news.

Still, Markle has a spring due date, which means it’s around that time, and she’s, therefore, unable to RSVP yes this year’s Met Gala guest list.

As for Middleton, she’s scheduled to visit North Wales with Prince William on Wednesday to meet with organizations that are helping the community and the environment. Although this means she could still technically make it out to New York for the Met Gala on Monday night and then fly out the following day, it’s unlikely she’ll fit it in. If she does, though, she won’t be the first royal to attend the event.

Princess Beatrice of York attended the affair just last year in an Alberta Ferretti ensemble, and Princess Diana, wearing a Versace gown, even made it out to the event in 1995.
