The picture, which shows Bieber and Gomez on a red ATV, was posted Tuesday on his Instagram account and was liked by over 1.3 million users. The photo also left “Jelena Is Back” trending on Twitter.

Several reports wondered why Bieber posted the photo. Some fans speculated that Bieber might be reminiscing while others claimed that the 21-year-old was hinting at a reconciliation with Gomez. The “Boyfriend” singer, who did not caption the photo when he first posted it, later wrote: “Just a throwback calm down.”

Bieber and Gomez sparked dating rumors after the ex-couple was spotted together on several occasions over the last month. In mid-November, the two were spotted spending a romantic evening at the Montage Beverly Hills, where Bieber sang “My Girl” to Gomez.
