Are Yandy Smith And Mendeecees Harris Married? The Truth Behind ‘Love & Hip Hop: New York’ Star’s Marriage Drama

Yandy Smith and her longtime love Mendeecees Harris had an extravagant wedding ceremony last year, but recently the “Love & Hip Hop: New York” couple sparked rumors they aren’t a legally married couple. While both Yandy and Mendeecees have dismissed the rumor, a new report claims that the confusion stems from Mendeecees legal issues.

A source told the Jasmine Brand Thursday that Yandy and Mendeecees are married, but they have a very complicated situation. “They took vows and committed themselves to God,” the source said.

According to the outlet’s insider, Yandy and Mendeecees do have rights as a couple but when the pair had their wedding ceremony last year — which aired in a two-hour VH1 special — they were in the middle of dealing with Mendeecees’ court case over drug trafficking charges.

“Contractually he signed a ‘power of attorney’ over to Yandy. They did their wills together, so they have rights as a couple. However, their situation is tricky,” the source explained. “At the time of their wedding ceremony, his plea wasn’t signed yet, so they weren’t sure if he was going to have to pay restitution. If he would have had to pay restitution, Yandy would be responsible. And that’s something that he didn’t want. So they had to wait for his plea deal to be signed and unfortunately it was after the 60 days.”

Rumors surfaced this week that Yandy and Mendeecees’ marriage was a sham after a clip of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: New York” leaked online showing Yandy reveal the shocking marriage news to her friend Kimbella. “I have a union with Mendeecees, but I didn’t go into a partnership with Mendeecees and the government,” she said.

Shortly after the clip leaked, Mendeecees took to Instagram writing that Yandy is his wife “till the death of me!” He added: “Y’all jump on anything. Just wait for it.”

Yandy also responded to the rumor posting several Instagram photos in which she referred to Mendeecees as her husband. “Miss the show tonight..awwwww what a pity,” she captioned a photo of her at the Barclays Center. “But I’m ouchea just emailing my HUSBAND @mndeecees I love you baby.”
