Argument Over Dog Leads To Shooting In Tennessee, Leaving 8 Injured

Authorities in Nashville, Tennessee have launched a manhunt for two male suspects in a shooting that left at least eight people injured. Police said the shooting took place after an argument over a dog.

The shooting took place Sunday shortly after 1:00 a.m., reported Associated Press. Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said that the eight individuals did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The two suspects got into an argument over the dog that belonged to one of them. In the middle of the altercation, the owner of the dog waved a handgun at the other man. The second man then left the spot and returned with a handgun and several other men shortly after. An exchange of gunfire followed.

Police said they have recovered a handgun from the scene. An investigation is ongoing.

In May 2019, a 66-year-old Arizona man was arrested for shooting his own son after they got into an argument over his pet dogs. Carl Myrick told deputies that he was upset at his son for kicking his pet dogs multiple times. When Myrick confronted his son, the younger man allegedly punched him in the chest a couple of times. Myrick then retrieved a handgun and shook it in the air, asking his son to leave, but the gun "accidentally" discharged and his son was shot in the chest. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent treatment. Myrick was arrested and charged with "aggravated assault" and "unlawful discharge of a firearm within city limits."

In another incident in April 2019, a man killed his neighbor with an ax following an argument over his pet dog. The incident happened in the Indian capital of New Delhi. The 29-year-old man, identified as Suresh, was upset with his neighbor 46-year-old neighbor, Mahajan, for beating his pet dog with a stick after the said dog defecated in front of Mahajan's house. Suresh’s family members got into an argument with the neighbor, during which Mahajan misbehaved with Suresh’s father. To avenge his father’s insult, Suresh hit Mahajan with an ax without warning, leading to his death. He was arrested and charged with murder.
