Ariana Grande’s look on the latest episode of “The Voice” trended online Monday night after the singer took the stage for her first night of live performances wearing a multicolored dress that’s reminiscent of Jennifer Garner’s dress in the 2004 movie “13 Going on 30.”
Grande’s love for the film is not new to her fans. It can be recalled that in 2019, she also embodied Garner’s iconic role in the film as Jenna Rink in her “Thank U, Next” video.
As “The Voice” season 21 kicked off its live shows on Monday, Grande took the stage alongside fellow coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend rocking the memorable Versace dress that Garner sported during one of the most iconic scenes in “13 Going on 30.” In that scene, Garner danced to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” with co-star Mark Ruffalo wearing a sleeveless dress featuring the colors apple green, red, purple and sky blue.
Season 21 kicked off its live shows with each coach presenting all five of their team members singing back to back. As Grande partook in her first live show since she joined the singing competition, host Carson Daly pointed out that it was Blake Shelton’s 232nd live show. He also reminded Grande to “keep it clean” for the live broadcast.
After participating in her first live show, Grande took to her Instagram Stories to show off her look. “Thank you so so so so much @donatellaversace @versace and happy first live show!!!” she wrote in her post, before tagging @nbcthevoice and adding the hashtag “#teamariana.”
At a press conference before the start of the new “The Voice” season, coaches Clarkson, Shelton and Legend placed the target squarely on Grande’s back as the first-time coach this season. “There’s no disadvantage when you’re Ariana Grande,” said Clarkson. “She can’t say it. I will,” she added.
Shelton also joked about the enthusiasm of fans for the “7 Rings” singer,” saying, “It’s embarrassing to follow her onto the stage. It exposes my lack of celebrity.”
“The Voice” season 21 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
