Arima to sell notebook, server ops to Flextronics
Taiwan's Arima Computer said on Thursday it has signed a letter of intent with Flextronics to sell its notebook PC and server operations to Flextronics for US$191.5 million.
Flextronics will buy assets related to the notebook PC and server business of Arima and its unit in China, and all the stakes Arima owns in other units in Japan, Texas, California and Britain, Arima said in a statement. Both firms are set to sign a formal contract within 45 days and the deal will not affect Arima's relations with its suppliers, customers and banks, the company said.
The announcement came after the Taipei stock market closed on Thursday, when Arima shares rose 2.8 percent to T$8.45. Taiwan's main TAIEX share index ended up 0.63 percent. (US$1=T$33.1)
