‘The Arrangement’: Lexa Doig Dishes On Michael Vartan, Terence And Deann’s Relationship
Lexa Doig loves working with her “The Arrangement” co-star Michael Vartan.
In a recent interview with Hidden Remote, Doig said that she and Vartan get along very well on the set of E!’s newest scripted series. “We’re of a similar mindset which is, it’s about the work,” the actress said of why she and Vartan have a good working relationship. “It’s not about any of the other [nonsense things that] goes on in the business. You meet actors … who are more concerned about the size of their trailers. They’re worried about everything other than telling the story and it’s kind of distracting and a little challenging to work with. … Thankfully there are none [of those actors] on our show. I just want to clarify that.”

“Vartan isn’t like that at all,” Doig added of her onscreen love interest. “He wants to do good work and it’s honest and so I love working with him. We’re kind of kindred spirits in a way because I think he should be Canadian. He loves hockey, he speaks French, he’s quite self-deprecating; these are all very proud Canadian qualities. He’ll say something and I’ll be like, ‘Why are you not moving here? I don’t understand why you’re not!’”
Doig and Vartan play married couple Deann and Terence Anderson on “The Arrangement.” But because the characters have been together for quite some time now, their love for each other isn’t that intense compared to the show’s main couple, Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista) and Kyle West (Josh Henderson).
“Deann and Terence were in love once, but have been together so long they probably forgot what that means,” Doig told Hidden Remote. “Whereas you see as a foil Kyle and Megan, and they’re young and in love and passionate and all that stuff, that they don’t know what’s going to hit them.”
Although viewers will learn more about Deann and Terence’s relationship before Season 1 ends, Doig said that she would love to know more about the couple’s backstory in Season 2.
“Hopefully … we’ll see more of that [next season],” Doig said. “I’m dying to know what their history is. I don’t know if [series creator] Jonathan [Abrahams] knows their history but I want to know it!”
E! renewed the series for Season 2 last week. Evangelista and Henderson were the first to announce the season renewal on Thursday on NBC’s “Today.”
“Our audience, I think, is going on this ride,” Henderson said during their guest appearance on the morning talk show. “People are obsessed with tabloids, and they’re obsessed with stories and everything else, and so this is a kind of show about that world, and people are really addicted to it.”
According to E! and Nielsen stats, “The Arrangement” is currently averaging 1.3 million total viewers and 725,000 in the adults 18-49 demographic. It also continues to rank as the second biggest scripted cable drama launch with young women (W18-34) for 2017.
“The Arrangement” airs every Sunday at 10 p.m. EDT on E!
