‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 3 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘A Matter Of Trust’? [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

Trust is going to take some time to build. In “Arrow” Season 5, episode 2, the new recruits ditched Oliver, but the Green Arrow realized that he needed to make them believe in him. Oliver convinced his recruits to return, but trust won’t come easily for one of his amateur vigilantes in episode 3 of the CW drama.

At the beginning of episode 3, aptly titled “A Matter of Trust,” Oliver (Stephen Amell) will tell Curtis (Echo Kellum), Evelyn (Madison McLaughlin) and Rene/Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) that they aren’t ready for action. He’ll want them to train for a while longer, but Rene doesn’t follow instructions well.

“Headstrong Wild Dog defies the Green Arrow's orders and sets out on his own after a new drug dealer, Derek Sampson, who is terrorizing Star City,” the synopsis reveals. After defying orders in the last episode, Oliver might question if Rene can actually handle his place on the team — especially since he doesn’t seem to want to be part of the group.

“He just wants to get in and out,” Gonzalez told Variety. “He wants to get the training, not make any friends, and just go at it alone. Wild Dog doesn’t have a lot of respect for the rest of the group — his ego and what he’s been through — doesn’t lend itself to wanting to connect with the others in the group. He doesn’t think they can bring any value to his life.”

Before deciding what to do about Wild Dog, Oliver will have to rescue him. “Sampson proves more powerful than Wild Dog and it is up to the Green Arrow to go head to head with Sampson to save his teammate,” the synopsis teases.

Sampson, who is dealing a drug called Stardust, is played by Cody Rhodes. The trailer above shows that his character will be immune to pain and has plenty of action scenes. WWE fans know Rhodes as Stardust and will remember that he and Amell faced off last year in the ring. Amell won, but “Arrow” fans will have to tune in to see if this smack down goes the same way.

“Arrow” Season 5 airs Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
