‘Arrow’ Season 5 Spoilers: Synopsis Teases Oliver’s New Team
Team Arrow is going to look very different in Season 5. The CW has released a new synopsis for “Arrow,” and it emphasizes that Oliver’s team has disbanded. With only Felicity by his side, he’ll need some help. However, these new vigilantes are a little rough around the edges.
“Newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen [Stephen Amell] finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City,” the Season 5 synopsis teases. It’s been a while since Oliver had a real job to juggle along with being a superhero. Has he gotten better at multitasking since his days at Queen Consolidated? It seems unlikely, especially since he’s lacking help on the superhero front.
“With Diggle [David Ramsey] back in the military and Thea [Willa Holland] adamant about hanging up her hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] — but they’re no longer the only vigilantes in town,” the summary continues. It looks like the gang isn’t reuniting right away, but there will be some new heroes in Star City.
“Green Arrow’s public defeat of Damien Darhk [Neal McDonough] at the end of Season 4 has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles, rather than allies, in the field,” the synopsis reveals.
The trailer for Season 5 (seen above) makes it clear that Oliver isn’t happy about having to train three new vigilantes. He already met Artemis (Madison McLaughlin) at the end of last season, but he’ll run into Wild Dog (Rick Gonzalez) and Vigilante (Josh Segarra) as well. Curtis (Echo Kellum) will join Felicity behind the computer screen.
They need to be trained if they want to fight evil, though, and Star City is never short on villains. “The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow,” the synopsis concludes.
As previously reported, the new bad guy is Tobias Church (Chad L. Coleman). Though he isn’t magical, he’ll still have a frightening amount of power. He’ll convince various criminals in the city to team up against Oliver and his team of freshman heroes. Fans will have to tune in to see if the vigilantes are ready to take on Church.
“Arrow” Season 5 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
