- Juventus and AC Milan are also interested to acquire the Spaniard
- Arsenal seems to be desperate to take in someone who could address their ongoing woes
Arsenal is the latest entrants into the pursuit of signing Real Madrid midfielder Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez, commonly known as Isco.
Feeling the urgency to add some creativity to the middle portion of their field formation, the Gunners have identified the Spanish midfielder as a potential candidate ahead of the January transfer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side has struggled to break down their opponents this season and has managed just 11 goals in their opening 13 English Premier League.
Only three other squads have scored fewer goals, two of whom are currently in the relegation zone.
Arsenal’s technical director Edu Gaspar admitted recently that the team does need a midfielder to man the ball rotation in fixtures, especially since Mesut Ozil has been omitted from the Premier League squad.
The Gunners were linked to a move for Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai, but the player chose to join German Bundesliga club Red Bull Leipzig instead.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the Gunners now have Isco on their radar. The 28-year-old Benalmádena, Spain native is experiencing difficulties under the tutelage of Zinedine Zidane at Santiago Bernabeu.
Isco is yet to register a goal or an assist in his nine appearances in the La Liga this season. In addition, he has been benched for the last three games, which is said to have made him contemplate the idea of leaving Madrid in January next year for greener pastures.
Juventus, Sevilla, AC Milan and Everton are the other clubs that have shown interest in him, but they are reportedly wary of sitting down with a player who has performed at a subpar level so far.
There have been numerous reports about Arsenal's serene ploy of exploring the market in January to bolster its ranks, but going by Edu’s comments about the club’s transfer plans, there is no indication about a big acquisition outlay in the coming weeks.
