Arsenal Star Could Reunite With Ronaldo After $12M Loan Move To Juventus: Report
KEY POINTS
- Mesut Ozil is yet to play for Arsenal in 2020-21
- Arsenal will ask $12 million for the six-month loan deal
- Ozil played alongside Ronaldo at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013
Arsenal reportedly are planning to send Mesut Ozil on loan to Juventus, where the midfielder would reunite with his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
At the 2020 summer window, the Premier League side failed to sell Ozil, whose current deal with Arsenal is due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season. Ozil’s Turkey-based agent Doctor Erkut Sögüt is working on a loan deal for his client with Juventus. For the six months, the Turin club will be asked to pay around $12 million for the loan transfer, Tuttosport reported.
Juventus were given a chance to sign Ozil in the past, but the Serie A champions had turned down the offer, as per Italian publication Ilbianconeri. Even though Ozil has been training hard, he has fallen out of Mikel Arteta’s plans and has not played since March 7, meaning, he is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal in the ongoing campaign.
The report also stated that the player’s agent is working precisely to lower Arsenal's requests as much as possible -- "almost eliminating them."
Arsenal are keen on getting rid of Ozil for the remaining of his deal in London and to ensure the deal goes through with Juventus this time, Arsenal will take care of 50% of Ozil’s wages, while the other half the Serie A side will pay.
While Juventus have well-settled midfielders in their current side, it is understood that the Italian club is counting on to rejuvenate the partnership between Ozil and Ronaldo, which had flourished at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.
In the 2020-21 Serie A, the champions Juventus have fallen to No. 6 in the table, having lost one, drawn six, and won six. Inter Milan, who are unbeaten in the league, are a point clear at the top of the table. Juventus are 10 points behind Inter Milan and are currently out of the Champions League zone for the next campaign.
