Though most signs point to Arsenal being less active in the January transfer period than previously anticipated, new names are being linked to the London club.

The Gunners are looking to upgrade their backup striker, and might be keen on a young player. According to Daily Mail, both Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in Barcelona forward Isaac Cuenca.

However, Sky Sports reports that Barcelona are confident that they can sign the 20-year-old Spaniard. Earlier this month, manager Pep Guardiola said Cuenca plays perfectly.

Daily Mail also reported on speculation that continues to make the rounds in the British press -- that Asenal have offered famed striker Thierry Henry a two-month loan deal. The New York Red Bulls have stated they aren't entertaining loans, but might consider allowing Henry to move back to his former club for a final encore.

ESPN reported that a loan deal for Henry was imminent.

Midfielder Tomas Rosicky is a target of Greek giants Olympiacos, according to Daily Mirror. Earlier this month, Metro reported that Wolfsburg were also interested in Rosicky, who might see limited playing time with Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby returning from injury in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Arsenal continue to have a shortage of defenders, and there has been little discussion of adding a full back.
