Arsenal Transfer News: Marseille’s Lucho Gonzales Would Prefer Moving to the Gunners
Ligue 1 side Marseille's Argentinean midfielder Lucho Gonzales has reportedly refused to rule out a move away from his current club, in the forthcoming January transfer window. The player has hinted that his preferred destination would be London and English club Arsenal.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger did try to bring the 30-year-old to the Emirates on loan but admitted that a more permanent deal was not possible at the time. With another transfer window fast approaching, the Gunners are believed to be planning another move for the player.
With the rumors about the player heading for Emirates flooding the Internet, Gonzales is believed to have told Mais Futebol that he will continue to play for Marseille as he is contract-bound. However, everything would depend, he added, on future offers that clubs make to him. He said he would be open to any good club that came along. Gonzales added that Arsenal were a great club; one his current side has already played twice, in this season's Champions League.
The Marseille man has also been linked with Italian Serie A clubs Roma and Fiorentina, according to a goal.com report.
Luis Oscar Lucho Gonzalez, a versatile midfielder who can play in different positions, is known for his passing skills and hardworking attitude on the field. He began his senior career with Argentine club Huracan in 1998 and has since moved to teams such as River Plate and Porto.
Gonzales has made 68 appearances for the Stade Velodrome-based side and has managed to net 13 goals since his arrival from Porto in 2009. He has also made 44 appearances for Argentina.
