ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS: New Central Midfield Target Emerging?
Arsenal are reportedly interested in adding a central midfielder before the Aug. 31 transfer deadline.
According to Talk Sport and the Daily Mail, the Gunners are targeting Ki Sung-Yeung. The 23-year-old Celtic star is reportedly valued at about £6 million.
Other sources have linked Ki to Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Queens Park Rangers. In January, Footy Bunker linked the South Korean to Manchester United and Aston Villa.
Ki is regarded as a gifted midfielder with excellent vision and passing skills. Labeled "the Korean Steven Gerrard," he already has 45 appearances with South Korea.
The Gunners are rather deep at midfielder, but the club might consider adding a new player with the slow injury recovery of young star Jack Wilshere.
Ki joined Celtic in 2009, and he was featured at the London Games with South Korea. Arsenal have another South Korean player in Park Chu-Young, but the forward has been used sparingly by Arsene Wenger since joining the club in August 2011.
