Arsenal continue to be at the center of January transfer speculation as the Gunners remain thin at full back and in need of an upgrade at reserve forward.

Though Arsenal have unofficially brought back famed striker Thierry Henry to Emirates on loan, the club probably still need a more stable option to back up Robin van Persie.

Koln striker Lukas Podolski remains Arsenal's top January target, according to Daily Mirror. However, reports continue to surface that the 26-year-old German is expected to stay in the Bundesliga. Podolski's representative told the Guardian that a January move is all but impossible.

Arsene Wenger has a reputation for seeking top young talent, and now the Arsenal boss apparently is targeting Nick Powell, according to Daily Mirror. The 17-year-old forward plays for Crewe, and is also on Chelsea's radar.

There is still no word on Marouane Chamakh, who has not been in good form this season. The Morrocan had been linked to multiple French clubs.

The Gunners' main need is at full back after a collection of injuries that will likely force Wenger to make a move. Metro reported that Arsenal have shown interest in Lyon's Aly Cissokho. The speedy left back has only one cap for France, but is considered a strong option for Arsenal based on the current market. Cissokho, 24, would likely be moved on loan as Lyon may want to make a permanent move over the summer.

Wayne Bridge was recently at the heart of speculation to join Arsenal, but there have been no recent reports of any link to the club. The veteran full back's £90,000-a-week salary is the main stumbling block.

Meanwhile, Arsenal recently announced that defensive midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong will join Wolverhampton on loan, as Wenger reconfigures the roster.

Daily Mirror reported that Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson has emerged as an Arsenal target. The 27-year-old left Manchester United for Sunderland in 2007.
