Happy Birthday, George Clooney! The original sexiest man alive turns 50 today.

Clooney has been in the spotlight for decades now, and his fans have seen him grow, both in age and as an actor. Clooney seems to be one of those actors that just keep getting better with age.

Clooney has played the roles of a doctor, a lawyer, and a thief to name a few. He has been nominated for five Academy Awards and in 2006 won Best Supporting Actor in Syriana. His most recent nomination was for Up in the Air in 2009.

While his acting career is superb, his humanitarian work cannot be ignored. He began the organization Not on Our Watch and has helped in Sudan.

He was also appointed a United Nations messenger of peace in 2008. He was also named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine twice, once in 1997 and then in 2006. Here is a look at George Clooney from the past few years.
