Chelsea Clinton Launches Facebook Fan Page, Joins IAC/Interactive Board

Chelsea Clinton has joined the board of the Internet holding company IAC/InterActive Corp., becoming the youngest director at the firm.

She became the 14th member of the board, which includes IAC chairman and senior executive Barry Diller and Michael Eisner, former Walt Disney Co. CEO.

IAC has more than 50 global brands including Match.com and Newsweek Daily Beast.

The move came in the same week she joined Facebook, the only daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton upped her public profile in a big way by interviewing her mother on stage at an event.

Clinton, 31, was married one year ago and while she has typically avoided the spotlight she's took the microphone at this week's Clinton Global Initiative conference, conducting a live interview with her mother. Poised and relaxed, Clinton asked her mother questions and spoke about issues that caused her personal concern -- including global health, food and economic issues.

The public appearance came days after she launched her own Facebook fan page.

Already, she has 10,542 people who like this on Facebook. Comments from fans of the New York-based public figure include, Love you, Chelsea! Among Chelsea Clinton's Likes on Facebook include New York University, where she attended, Common Sense Media, and University of Oxford, in England.

By Saturday, Chelsea Clinton was trending first among Hot Topics on Alexa, the global Web information company.

Clinton married Marc Mezvinksy in an event some journalists called glamorous last year, and while she's been plagued by divorce rumors there seems to be no credibility. Clinton serves on the board of the Clinton Foundation and several othres and has focused on questions of empowerment and equal rights, including areas related to health and the arts, particularly on those that concern children, according to her Facebook profile.

When interviewing her mother on stage at the CGI event this week, Clinton quizzed her mom on technology and global issues. She also quipped that her father, President Clinton, still calls the Internet the World Wide Web. The Clinton Global Initiative was founded in 2005.

Discussing more serious issues, Hillary Clinton warned when talking with her daughter about repressive global regimes which stifle social media and other forms of voice display.

Some countries imprison bloggers who talk about music or art because they consider it to be subversive, Hillary Clinton said.
