U.S. Mint Selling Silver Coins Again
The U.S. Mint resumed sales Friday of three silver coins, after volatility in the silver market last month prompted the government agency to pull them for repricing.
On Sept. 21 the spot price of silver was $39.75 per troy ounce; on Sept 23 that price had plunged 22.8 percent to $30.67. Three days later the mint pulled the three silver coins for repricing.
The American Eagle Silver Proof Coin went back on sale at $58.95, down from $68.45, a 13.9 percent reduction.
The American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin has been repriced at $50.95 from $60.45, a 16.5 percent reduction.
The America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin is now on sale for $229.95, down from $279.95, a 17.9 percent reduction.
The U.S. Mint, which was established by Congress in 1792, operates six facilities, including Fort Knox, Kent.
