Ashley Tisdale has shared her breastfeeding journey with baby daughter Jupiter Iris French, admitting that it’s not as easy as it looks.

The “High School Musical” star gave birth to her first child with her composer husband Christopher French in March. Since her daughter is still too young, Tisdale has opted to feed and nourish her with breast milk. However, she has come to realize what a daunting and challenging task breastfeeding really is.

In her latest journal entry that she posted on her website, Frenshe, on Thursday, the 35-year-old actress spoke candidly about her breastfeeding journey.

“I wish someone would’ve told me how hard breastfeeding really was. You see your friends who are new moms feeding their babies make it look so easy. But no one tells you how hard it really is,” she wrote.

“I think there’s this pressure around the subject of breastfeeding, and that those who do it are the best moms, but that’s not true,” Tisdale added.

The “He Said She Said” songstress went on to reveal that on the very first day that she breastfed baby Jupiter at the hospital, the newborn struggled with latching. She also noticed that her baby was getting frustrated by it.

“This made me upset because I just wanted to have a good experience with feeding her for the first time. Now, let’s cut to day four of me pumping milk. At this point, I was so over trying to figure out the latch and was giving her breast milk by the bottle,” Tisdale shared.

Even though baby Jupiter “loved the bottle,” the singer-actress was not pleased with the situation as she had to pump her breast milk into the bottle all the time.

“That was the moment I realized that maybe breastfeeding isn’t meant for us. I pumped all day, and never looked forward to pumping. I would look at the pump like it held me back from really being in the moment with Juju and enjoying my first weeks of motherhood,” Tisdale wrote.

Tisdale and her husband eventually turned to formula, and they haven’t looked back since. According to the “Merry Happy Whatever” star, she now likes that she gets to share “that same special moment with your baby that you do with breastfeeding.”

Tisdale has been very open about her motherhood experiences on her website. Earlier this month, she confessed that she’s struggling to get back in shape after giving birth to her daughter.
