Ashton Kutcher’s net worth is around $200 million. At one point in time, he was the highest paid TV actor. How did he build his massive fortune?
Kutcher started his acting career at a young age. He was part of the famous “That ‘70s Show” which ushered him to show business as a comedian. A list of comedy films followed suit such as “Just Married,” “Dude, Where's My Car?” and “Guess Who's Coming to Dinner” in 2005. Because of his goofy personality on-cam, he was able to parlay his success to TV shows. Kutcher produced and hosted MTV’s “Punk'd” and contributed to other reality shows such as “Beauty and the Geek,” “Adventures in Hollywood” and “The Real Wedding Crashers.”
His biggest earnings from TV came in 2011 after being tapped to replace Charlie Sheen on “Two and a Half Men.” The 42-year-old actor was reportedly taking home $800,000 per episode or about $20 million in one season of the show. This eventually made him the highest paid actor on TV at the time.
Aside from acting, Kutcher is a serial investor in Silicon Valley. He has a knack forfinding gems in the rough when it comes to tech startups. He was an early investor to some of the massive companies today such as Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, Shazam, SoundCloud, Neighborly, Zenreach and ResearchGate, among others, per Celebrity Net Worth.
The actor has over $3 billion in investments in startups and had a hand in more than 177 funding rounds in 10 years. Business Insider has learned that the husband of actress Mila Kunis only invests in startups that are capable of providing solutions to everyday problems. "If you find a way to help people find love, or health, or friendship, the dollar will chase that," Demi Moore’s ex-husband said.
In 2010, he built his own venture capital firm A-Grade Investments, alongside Guy Oseary and Ron Burkle. The proof of their success was turning a $30 million fund into $250 million. Other investors who got involved in A-Grade include Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Eric Schmidt and billionaire Mark Cuban.
Five years later, Kutcher and Oseary would form Sound Ventures with a starting fund of $100 million. What makes Sound Ventures different from A-Grade Investments is that the latter is more focused on early-stage startups while the former focused on investments in later-stage and even in follow-up rounds.
Aside from his TV career and blossoming gig as a venture capitalist, Kucther also owns an Italian restaurant. He and his family currently live in a $10 million property in Carpinteria, California. Kutcher and Kunis are also rumored to own several houses in Hidden Valley and Beverly Hills Post Office.
